Bangalore to Wayanad!

September 5, 2005 – 6:58 am

Just Pause n Play

“AWESOME” is the word. Wayanad is about 290 Kms from Bangalore and is located in North Kerela. It’s full of Misty Mountains, Wild Forest Brookes, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations etc.
Honest. I didnt have any clue about those horns.

13 of us ( Utkarsh, Balaji, Lokesh, Rahul, Murali, Niteesh, Satya, Sushma, Sidharth, Gopal, Ankur, Parag) took of on Thursday night and were back by Sunday early morning.
The Gang

Vythiri Resort: The resort is situated deep in the wild woods. Thankfully there wasn’t any TV, mobile phone signal or newspaper.

The first thing that one hears is the sound of wild brook gushing through the rocks. There’s also a suspended rope bridge which goes over the brook. It was pretty shaky too.

It was slightly drizzling and thanks to Utkarsh’s persistence and after initial hesitation we all jumped into a waterfall. It was shivering in the beginning and then we evolved to enjoy the water. Then we swam in the swimming pool for a while, played snooker, chess, table tennis etc.,

We also hogged like there was no tomorrow. Kerela Cuisine was at its best. We custom ordered Puttu and Kadalai curry and the cook was only eager to prepare it well.

Pookat Lake : 3-4 Kms from Vythri Resort.
We bought some fresh spices, root herbs, medicated oil here etc

Edakallu Caves : about 10 Kms from Vythri Resort.
This cave was formed a long time back when an earthquake struck Wayanad.
We climbed up 1.25 Kms to reach the cave and found Wall carvings which date back to 6000 BC. One of the inscriptions, written Tamil Bhrami Script stated that “
The man who killed many tigers, Nandu lived in this cave. King Vishnu Vardhan also lived in this Cave.
It was fun!

  14. Hey guys, if any of you visit Wayanad and if you are bold and love trecking, make sure you visit the meemutty falls, its an awesome exprience. It’s a little dangerous during the monsoons(we visited during the monsoons), and please take a local guide along with you, there are chances of loosing the way.

You would have did some research on this before you went there. Please advise me. Also I heard there is no fan or A/C in the resort. Was it too hot there?
